The outbreak of demand for any new type of home appliance has a lot to do with changes in the social environment. Take laundry as an example. From ancient times to today, this is an inescapable housework. Before the appearance of washing machines, for many people, handcuffs, sticks, scouring, and beatings were essential.
In China, due to historical reasons, the washing machine industry started late, and the domestic washing machine was officially produced in 1978. After entering the 1980s, the washing machine market broke out due to the reform and opening up and the income level of ordinary people. In 1983, the output of washing machines increased from 400 in 1978 to 3.65 million.
No one would have thought that 20 years later this year, the domestic dryer market is also showing dew, and the trend of upgrading consumption in first- and second-tier cities and mid- to high-end consumers is obvious. Samsung has seized on this trend and will launch a dryer in the Chinese market in September.
The contrast between the Chinese and foreign dryer market is very different. Why is this happening?
Since the dryer was invented in the 1930s, it has become an essential household appliance for European and American families. According to the data of Zhiyan Consulting, the penetration rate of dryers in North America is over 70%. At the same time, domestic dryers have a penetration rate of only 0.2%. The contrast between the Chinese and foreign dryers market is very different.
